The 05-series from Volvo BM Valmet was constructed from scratch by engineers both
from Volvo BM and Valmet in Finland. The new type of tractor was designed to have 4WD from
the beginning, therefore the weight on the front axle was 45 %. That made the tractor pull
well without extra weight in the front. |
| The hydraulics was designed so that the
floor in the tractor became flat and the driver could rotate the seat 180 degrees and work
for example in the forrest very well that way. |
| The hydraulic lift capacity in that time
was respectable. |
| The transmission was synchronized on all
gears and that was a big difference from the Volvo BM tractor. |
| Gear box had 8 forward and 4 reverse. |
| Volvo design group designed the lines and
colors, the lines can actually be compared to a Volvo 740 car. |
| Volvo made the cabs, transmission
components. |
| From 1987 the tractor could only be named
VALMET because Volvo BM did not want to be involved in the tractor affair anymore. |
